CanSkate Learn
to Skate

CanSkate is the Skate Canada learn
to skate program for skaters aged 3-13. Skating skills are taught and
emphasized through fun activities and continuous movement in small
groups. As skills are learned, badges are awarded. Canskate provides
excellent training for those interested in figure skating, hockey or
ringette.
The March Kanata Skating club is run by volunteers who make it
successful and affordable. We need volunteers in each of the following
areas. When you volunteer for Arena or Music it is for only two skating
sessions per year during your child's ice time.
- Arena - Opening and closing the
gate to the ice and helping skaters on and off the ice. Responsible for
the First Aid Kit for the day.
- Music - Playing music during
warm up and cool down of the class. Sound the buzzer to indicate class
beginning and end.
- Administration - This is an
ongoing task that includes: preparing skater charts and name tags,
issuing badges, answering parental concerns, posting notices and
creating volunteer schedules.
